Elderly man held for molesting minorption

BENGALURU: A 62-year-old retired government member of staff was under arrest under the Pocso Act, for barging into a residence and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, in Indira Colony, Chandra Layout on Sunday. 

Chinnamariah stayed with his wife and three children in the same locality and he was known to the girl's parents. Around noon, when the girl's mother had gone to the market, Chikkamaraiah barged into the home and sexually assaulted the girl.

Suspect thrashed by mob:

The girl's screams drew the attention of neighbors who rushed and grabbed the suspect. He was thrashed by the mob and handed over to the jurisdictional Chandra Layout police. A 25-year-old youth from Peenya was caught by passersby when he tried to grab the chain of a lady on her morning walk in Soladevanahalli, north Benglauru, on Sunday morning.

Around 5.30am, Jyothi, 37, and her neighbour, both residents of Maruthi Nagar, had gone on their morning walk to nearby Dwarakanagar. The suspect Sridhar approached Jyothi from behind and tried to snatch the chain. She, however, held on to the chain. Hearing her shouts, a mob gathered and caught Sridhar. They trashed him before handing over to Soladevanahalli police.
