Today, the International Yoga Day 2017, massive Yoga practice
sessions and demonstrations are taking place across the country and the world.
There are many organizations trying to create a Guinness
World Record today with the longest human chains and other Yoga related

Three years ago, the United Nations stated June 21 as the
International Yoga Day. Prime Miinister Narendra Modi an avid yoga practitioner
had appealed to the United Nations for such a declaration.
Since then, thousands of people hold yoga programmes
across the world on this day to stay fit.The effort to promote this ancient practice has been on
the climb.
In Delhi, NDMC civic body has organized four events to
mark the day, with yoga demonstrations to take place at Connaught Place, Lodi
Garden, Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden and Children’s Park at India Gate.
Addressing a huge assembly at the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan
on the occurrence of the third International Yoga Day celebrations in Lucknow,
Mr. Modi said, "The conventional practice has now become part of every
person’s life."
“Several countries which do not know our language,
belief, or ethnicity, are now relating to India through Yoga. The practice,
which connects body, mind and soul, has played a big role in binding the world
too,” he said.
Mr. Modi also asserted that attaining “wellness” all the
way through yoga was more vital than simply being physically and mentally fit.
Just as the value of salt is not only to lend taste to
food, but also make sure the well-being of the body, likewise Yoga can have the
same significance as salt has in life, he said.
He said yoga is about health assurance. “It is not even
pricey to practice,” he said.
