Impact of Karnataka Bandh
Press club of Bangalore called for a conference to resolve the conflicts regarding
the Karnataka bandh. The pro-kannada organizations had called for a bandh on Monday
to fulfill their demands that included farm loan waiver, water scarcity in arid
areas such as Kolar, Chikkabalapur,
Davangere and Chitradurga and Narender
Modi’s intervention in the mahadayi river water dispute .
Through
Press club in Bangalore we also came to know that there was not much impact of Karnataka
bandh. Schools and colleges were open, transport services were normal- BMTC,
railways, autos and metro. Few PG exams were postponed. Security was given in
areas where there were chances of violence to take place, though it was a non-violence
rally.
Vatal
Nagaraj was heading the bandh and during the rally in the morning awho gathered
near town hall to carry out march to Vidhana Soudha, none knew his whereabouts.
Praveen Shetty also accompanied Vatal Nagaraj. Even after the protests, there
was no much response in Bangalore. Press club in Bangalore also came to a
conclusion that there was impact of this bandh, for was very limited.
In
the neighboring districts like Kolar and chikkaballapur had good response. The protesters
blocked the highway near Kondarajanahalli for about half-an-hour. Press club in
